Derma Roller by Petunia Skincare – Review

When I first laid eyes on my Derma Roller by Petunia Skincare I thought it looked like a crazy miniature pizza slicer! It’s a little intimidating since it has a bunch of 1 mm needles you’re rolling over your skin – 540 of them to be exact!

The derma roller simulates what I’ve read labeled as skin needling and people pay BUKU bucks to have this type of skin treatment! Well Petunia Skincare has brought this affordable tool into the home. So how does it work?

The needles stimulate the dermis resulting in more collagen production while at the same time opening the pores so your moisturizers and anti-aging regimens are absorbed faster. On the box are the directions to roll this crazy looking contraption over the skin ten times horizontally, ten times vertically and ten times diagonally in both directions with normal pressure.

Above I am pictured using the Derma Roller in the diagonal direction just after washing my face (no make-up should be on the skin at all). Sensitive areas like my forehead did tend to get a little red. You can see a little redness on my cheek too (I do have very fair skin to begin with). I have read that others find it a bit uncomfortable, but for me it doesn’t hurt. I would imagine you can break the skin if you press too hard though.

As for results, I did notice the line on my forehead has definitely lessened. I haven’t seen too much of a difference in other areas of my face, BUT – since the Derma Roller can be used on any part of the body, it also works on scars and I have faithfully used it on my leg where I had to have a mole removed and it has made a huge difference in fading the scar which was very dark to begin with.

The needles are made of stainless steel which is known to cause less reaction to the skin, however, a reminder: Always sanitize after use to avoid infection.

I will continue using the Derma Roller and it gets a thumbs up for real results. Bonus points for being made in the USA! Get yours at Amazon.com by shopping here:
