This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ocala/Marion County VCB. All opinions are 100% mine. A Miami native and beach baby, my friends and family joke I was born with a scuba mask on. If there is one thing I love about my native Florida, it is the ocean. It’s just beautiful with some of the best dive and snorkeling spots in the world! But sometimes Florida Travel means you want to get away from it all and change up the pace a bit. So let me tell you about Ocala/Marion County aka the OMC.
Ocala/Marion County – The Perfect Getaway
Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation or a little of both, OMC has something for whatever tickles your fancy. You just want an overnight or weekend getaway? You’re golden! Or maybe you want a bit longer to check out the area? You won’t run out of things to see and do. First, let me show you where it is:
So where do you start? Maybe you want to kayak or canoe the springs? Do some camping in the amazing Ocala National Forest or get up high with some ziplining. Or all of the above! Whether you choose just a couple of things or you pack it all in, you’ll be impressed with this little slice of Florida.
Ocala/Marion County – Trails and Hiking
We’d probably be staying in South Florida with my mom and dad, so we’d hit the road north for an easy drive up to the OMC on the way back to Arkansas. Upon our arrival, we’d hook up “The Estate” (aka our RV) at Big Bass Campgroundand stretch our legs on a glorious hike. There are a lot of trails to choose from. If you’ve ever read The Yearling, it opens up in Ocala National Forest at Spring Boils Trail. The bubbling springs are a cool sight. It’s not a hard hike and it’s a great start to time in OMC. Oh – if you’re not into camping or you’re interested in what other accomodations you can find in Ocala/Marion County, check out these great Ocala/Marion County Lodging options. After working up a little thirst, we’d hit The Orange Shop. You can’t go to the OMC without a stop in here!
Ocala/Marion County – Ziplining
We love us some ziplining, so you know we’d have to hit the Canyon Ziplines! They take you through 100 acres of lakes, canyons, cliffs and so much more – I don’t want to ruin it by giving it all away!
I don’t ride as much as I’d like to, but if you’re in Ocala it’s sort of the law. Okay, kidding. But this is horse country and you won’t want to miss out on a horseback ride if you can fit it in! Aren’t they just beautiful?
Ocala/Marion County – More Outdoors
We’d definitely have to spend more time exploring the springs and lakes. Le sigh. I just love Ocala/Marion County. This first photo is of Juniper springs. And this is a waterfall at Rainbow Springs. Hand me a book. I could stay there all day.
Ocala/Marion County – Downtown
We’d finish off with a stroll through downtown peeking in the shops, grabbing a few gifts and stopping for some refreshments. Truly, whatever you choose, you cannot go wrong! Here’s a great list of Ocala/Marion County Activitiesto wet your whistle! Thanks to Ocala/Marion County VCB for providing photos for this post. Although these photos aren’t mine, as a Florida native I have spent much time in Ocala/Marion County. Feel free to reach out for tips and more advice on visting this SPECTACULAR part of Florida. It’s a true favorite of mine and I can’t wait to get back!
