Day 3 of the Blog Challenge
Day Three: What is the greatest amount of physical pain you have ever endured?
This is an entry I have thought about all day. Not because I don’t have an answer, but because it is not possible for me to narrow this to one instance.
Though it is not perfect, I lead a beautiful life and I really like to focus on that. Remembering these times isn’t easy.
There are three instances of physical pain I’ve endured unlike any others; and that I would never wish upon another human being.
My bone marrow biopsies, the night of my car accident when I was taken to the trauma center via helicopter and had chest tube placement without anesthesia (my wrists were tied down) and the night I was trapped in a fire and my lungs were burned from smoke inhalation.
All involved physical pain and all involved the need to stay strong mentally.
So while I have answered the question, I will choose to leave anyone reading this with a message: We are stronger than we could ever know.
“And your body is the harp of your soul,
And it is yours to bring forth sweet music from it or confused sounds.” – Gibran
Through the confusion, there is always music if you listen for it and allow it to play. Always. There is music.
